Internships are valuable resources and tools for both interns and businesses. For interns, it is an opportunity to learn important skills that will prepare them for a job and to start a career. They also build important relationships that will help them learn and advance. Interns are helpful to businesses in that they provide an opportunity to bring fresh, new ideas to a company, and are a great source of potential new employees. Internship experiences should be mutually beneficial to the intern and the company. Internships in the marketing field are diverse and can focus on advertising, sales, public relations, event planning, market research and more.
Before hiring an intern, it is important to consider:
-- why you want or need one
-- what they will work on and how you will manage them
-- if you will offer them payment (stipend, hourly wage, travel reimbursement, etc.) or how you will motivate and attract them
Koffee Talk supports interns who are learning in the marketing field, and they are welcome to attend Koffee Talk's monthly
breakfast meetings at no expense, with their supervisor/mentor who must be a Koffee Talk member.
Additional internship resources for Koffee Talk members are available on the members only website. Members, please log in to find information about recruiting, hiring and managing interns. Also available is a list of area colleges and universities with career center contacts.
